- Blueprints, rules and methods of doing business, engaging in purely mental activities, or playing a game of games.
- Plants, animals, and processes — mostly biological — used to produce plants or animals, excluding microbiology, non-biological processes and microbiology processes
- Methods of surgical or therapeutic treatment of the human body or animal, methods of diagnosis applicable to the human body or animal, excluding products used in any of these methods. This includes computer software, and any other works included in literary works.

What Patent Cooperation Treaty has Saudi Intellectual Property Authority talked about?
It is an international treaty concluded in Washington in 1970 and entered into force in 1974. It is an important treaty of the global patent system, providing a global system that facilitates patent filing procedures. It is administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and has 153 members. The request deposited through the Treaty goes through the following stages: deposit, international research, international publication, additional international research (optional), international preliminary examination (optional) and the national stage.

After submission of the application, a formal and procedural examination is carried out by the Authority and then the substantive examination is carried out. Similar patents may exist in this case where the inventor is informed, and there is a difference between the inventor who clarifies it and, if modified, submits it after amendment, and can review it.
The process of time in requesting an invention document is predominantly one and a half to two years, but in the meantime an advantage is to give the inventor a deposit number, which can be marketed to the idea and is considered as protection, so the idea is recorded from the time the application is deposited.
